urban love monk
What happens when you give up the whole shebang for love, get quiet and listen for God?
I started my 40th year on this earth committing to serious spiritual practice. Instead of heading to the monastery or retreat center, I invited the rhythm of monastic life into the world I already inhabited.
At the top of the Berkeley Hills, on July 15, 2013, I took vows – both Christian and Buddhist – before my gracious and supportive council. The intent was to slow down, shut up and learn to receive what is given.
That year changed my heart. While I am no longer living under monastic vows, I am forever an urban love monk, committed to reaching out toward love, toward you, toward all.
